Genus Details

Date palms are very graceful feather palms originally from Africa and Asia. They are used as ornamental plants in the southern U.S. Male and female flowers are on separate plants. Date palms grow 30-60' tall. The leaves are stiff fonds, spiny at the base and segments are 12-18" long and bluish-green in color. The fruits are fleshy drupes that grow 1-3" long.
